Concerns raised about the Office of Religious Freedoms

The BC Humanist Association echoes the concerns expressed today by Humanist Canada and the Centre for Inquiry Canada regarding the announcement of a federal Office of Religious Freedoms within the Foreign Ministry.

A statement released today by Canada's two leading voices for Secular Humanism calls on Minister John Baird to include secular and non-religious voices in the Office. These calls have so far gone unanswered as the Office was established among an invite-only crowd.

They referenced a 2012 report citing the breadth of discrimination against atheists and the non-religious around the world from the International Humanist and Ethical Union.
